Image
Great Arch of Viceroy The beauty of Goa is there abundance of history everywhere and one really has to look for it .  On 22 nd March 2022 I had visited old goa while I came across an arc which took all my attention towards it. this beautiful monument was called The arc of viceroy .This arch may seem like any normal arch , built on a narrow goa road, but this was was erected by Vasco da Gama’s grandson, Francisco da Gama, who became viceroy in 1597. Vasco Da Gama was the first European to reach India by sea. His initial voyage to India (1497–1499) was the first to link Europe and Asia by an ocean route, connecting the Atlantic and the Indian oceans and therefore, the West and the East.  On the side facing the river, the arch (which was restored in 1954 following a collapse) is ornamented with the deer emblem on Vasco da Gama’s coat of arms. Above it in the centre of the archway is a statue of da Gama himself.  The original arch collapsed in 1948 and was rebuilt in 1954.On ...

Gautham Buddha I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Gautham Buddha statue in Margao, Goa, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment I stepped into the serene garden surrounding the statue, I felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me. Goa, the coastal state of India, is famous for its beaches, nightlife, and architecture. However, it is also home to a significant cultural landmark - the Gautham Buddha statue. This statue is a remarkable work of art that represents the teachings and principles of the great sage, Buddha. The statue itself was magnificent, standing tall and proud amidst the lush greenery. The bronze sculpture was crafted with great attention to detail, and I couldn't help but marvel at its sheer size and intricate design. The Gautham Buddha statue in Goa is located in the town of Ravindra Bhavan in Margao. This statue is a bronze replica of the famous reclining Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. The statue is approximately 14 feet long and 6 f...

Heart of Christian Built in 1606, the church was the heart of the local Catholic community for more than 200 years, until it was destroyed by fire in 1834. Only the Baroque facade and the altar were saved, near which a small chapel has been built. Due to its historical value, the faΓ§ade of the church of Sancoale is officially recognised by Indian authorities as an architectural heritage site.
